Quoting software for tilers

TradeKwote helps UK tilers turn measurements and notes into a clear, professional quote in about 60 seconds, from a kitchen splashback to a fully tiled wet room. You set the prices; TradeKwote writes up the job.

Tiling quotes live or die on prep. Two tilers can quote the same square metres very differently, because one has priced for stripping, levelling and tanking and the other hasn't. Setting out your prep clearly shows the customer why your price is what it is.

What a good tiling quote includes

  • The area in square metres for walls and floors.
  • Removing old tiles and preparing the surface: making good, levelling compound or backer board.
  • Waterproofing (tanking) in showers and wet rooms.
  • The tiles: who supplies them, the size and the pattern, since large-format, herringbone and diagonal layouts take longer and waste more.
  • Adhesive, grout, trims and silicone.
  • Wastage allowance, commonly around 10%, and more for complex patterns.

How tilers usually price work

Most tilers price per square metre for straightforward areas, with extra for prep, removal, cutting-heavy layouts and trims. Small jobs such as splashbacks are often a fixed price, as setting up takes the same time whatever the size. Day rates are common for larger or more complex jobs.

Things worth mentioning

  • Wet areas should be properly waterproofed before tiling, following the tanking system manufacturer's instructions.
  • Underfloor heating under tiles involves electrics that may be notifiable under Part P. Say who is doing the electrical connection.
  • Floors need to be flat and rigid enough for the tiles chosen. If a floor needs strengthening or levelling, say so and price it.

How TradeKwote helps tilers

  • Dictate your measurements and notes on site, and TradeKwote writes a clear scope of work.
  • You enter each line, such as prep, tiling per area, and materials, with your prices. The AI never adds items or changes prices.
  • Add up to 5 photos of the existing surfaces so the scope reflects the prep needed. Photos stay private.
  • Add a note if the customer is supplying tiles, and ask for a deposit if you're buying them.
  • VAT is handled, including the domestic reverse charge if you work for contractors.
  • On Pro, save templates for jobs you do often, such as splashbacks and shower enclosures.

Tips for winning more tiling work

  • Show your prep and waterproofing on their own lines. Customers comparing quotes can then see what cheaper quotes have left out.
  • Mention the tile size and layout, as large-format and herringbone layouts take longer and customers should know why.
  • Say how long the room will be out of use, including grout curing time before a shower is used.
  • Offer to advise on quantities if the customer is buying tiles, so they don't run short.
